The upper tiber valley

The village has very ancient origins and it was plundered by Annibale as punishment for the help given to the Romans during the famous Trasimeno Battle. In fact Trasimeno is not very far from this conjunction of land between Upper Tiber Valley and Trasimeno Lake. Its name perhaps comes from the name of a roman patrician. It had strategic importance during Byzantine times, as a protected area between Rome and Ravenna. Inside the Chiesa di San Nicolò, in Val di Rose there is a Raffaello's school altar-piece.
